Officer Involved Shooting Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports investigators are conducting an officer involved shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 22, 2021. The incident occurred at 5317 Acadia Terrace in the City Limits of Fairfield, Alabama.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. the Birmingham Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit along with officers from the Tactical Operations Precinct responded to the location to execute a narcotics search warrant. Upon arrival the officers were immediately confronted with gunfire from an armed suspect. Officers returned fire striking the suspect. Lifesaving medical aid was immediately administered by officers prior to the arrival of Birmingham Fire and Rescue. The suspect was transported to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates a firearm was recovered on scene. The Alabama State Bureau of investigation will be the lead Investigative agency in this investigation.
