Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

The victims will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.

At approximately 11:10 p.m., a North Precinct officer heard several gunshots near the 500 block of 10th Avenue West. Multiple shot spotter alerts then went off at 512 10th Avenue West. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate. Upon arrival, officers observed two male victims lying unresponsive inside of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced both victims deceased.

Currently there are no suspect(s) in custody. Details are limited in this investigation.

This is Birmingham’s 31st homicide investigation of 2021 with 3 justifiable death investigations. The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
