Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday May 24, 2020.

The victim’s has been identified as
Tyler Rashard Busby, (27), B/M, of Birmingham, AL.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., Officers from the West Precinct responded to 2808 Bessemer Road on a call of a person shot. Upon arrival officers discovered the victim on the ground unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue along with Jefferson County Coroner responded and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggest the victim was at the Nu Vision Detail Center patronizing the business when he stepped outside to take a phone call. An unknown person emerged from a vehicle and shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene in a small sedan prior to officer’s arrival. There are no suspect(s) in custody. Detectives has not established a clear motive in this investigation. This is an ongoing investigation.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
