Media Release 111- Homicide Investigation- 44th Avenue North
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 26, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
Deunte Jurrell Winston,(23), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 9:35 AM, East Precinct officers were dispatch to the 4300 Block of 44th Avenue North on report of a Person Shot.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim on a porch suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
UAB Hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in an altercation with a separate male. The suspect fired shots at the victim, then fled the scene.
There is no one in custody.
