U.S. Marshals and BPD Detectives Seize Guns and Narcotics During Search for Wanted Domestic Violence Suspect with Violent History

On Friday, May 24, 2024, the BPD Special Enforcement Division’s Crime Reduction Team and members of U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Taskforce (GCRFTF) developed information on a wanted suspect.

The suspect has been identified as:

Antwon Jones, (25), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

The search led them to a residence in the 1600 Block of Fulton Avenue Southwest.

Jones had an outstanding felony warrant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for Domestic Violence 2nd Degree (Gun). Detectives and members of the GCRFTF went to this location and arrested Jones without incident.

While inside the residence, detectives observed a large amount of illegal narcotics in plain view.

The BPD Special Enforcement Division’s Vice/Narcotics Unit was notified and obtained a drug search warrant for the residence.

While executing the drug search warrant, detectives seized: 18.82lbs of marijuana, 4 grams of cocaine, a stolen Fulton County Sheriff’s Department Glock 23 with an illegal “Glock Switch” on it, a 12-gauge shotgun, (3) AR pistols, (1) Draco pistol and $4,703 in US Currency.

Antwon Jones was transported to the Jefferson County Jail on the Domestic Violence warrant.

Detectives will present case information to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

NOTE: BPD Homicide Detectives previously arrested Antwon Jones for the May 2020 murder of his grandfather, Jesse Johnson.
