Unclassified Death Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting an unclassified death investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, June 9, 2023.
The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 8:25 AM, a West Precinct officer was flagged down in the 2400 Block of Westhaven Drive on report of a Person Down in a wooded area.
Officers went to the wooded area when they observed an adult female unresponsive on the ground.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene and then pronounced the victim deceased.
Details are limited in this investigation. Officers observed no signs of foul play; however, the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are suspicious.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office took care and custody of the victim. The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the victim to determine the cause of death.
