Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Obray Carter, (39), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Just after 12:30 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shots Fired call near 1st Avenue South and Center Street.
Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim unresponsive on a motorcycle suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was on his cruiser-style motorcycle when a suspect shot him and then fled the scene.
There is no one in custody.
The victim was targeted in this shooting.
