Assault Investigation (Juvenile Wounded by Gunfire)
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting an assault investigation. The incident occurred on June 29, 2022, in the Morell Todd Housing Community.
The victim has been identified as a 15-year-old juvenile.
Just before 8:30 p.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to 4520 8th Terrace North on a call of a person shot. Officers were alerted the victim was transported to Children’s Hospital of Alabama in a private vehicle. The victim was struck in the upper extremities and injuries are reported as life-threatening.
The preliminary investigation suggest multiple rounds were into an apartment that was occupied by multiple teenagers. The suspect(s) fled the scene on foot. An adjacent apartment was also struck by gunfire; however, no injuries were sustained. The Birmingham Police Department has taken two suspects into custody.
