Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

 

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Sherry Body. Sherry Body was shot and killed on Friday, June 30, 2023, in the 600 Block of 11th Court West.

The suspect has been identified as:
Edward Bell Myles Jr., (51), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.

Edward Bell Myles Jr. was taken into custody on the scene of the homicide.

He has been transported to the Jefferson County Jail under a No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The victim will be identified upon notification to next of kin.

At approximately 11:43 PM, North Precinct officers were responding to a call of a person shot in the 600 Block of 11th Court West.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult female unresponsive, lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in an altercation that led to a gunshot being fired, wounding the victim.

This homicide is domestic in nature.

There is a person of interest detained at this time.
