Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
The victim has been identified as:
Nakita Nicole Walker, (26) B/F, of Hoover, Alabama.
At around 10:15 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 700 Block of New Hill Court.
Officers arrived on the scene and then discovered the victim lying unresponsive on an exterior staircase.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests an adult male (suspect) was at the location causing a disturbance. The suspect began arguing with the victim. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim.
The suspect is not in custody.
