Media Release 153-Homicide Investigation-21st Street North

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Daniel Edward Fowler, 18, B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At approximately 8:45 PM, North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1400 Block of 21st Street North on report of shots fired. While officers were en route, they were notified that a vehicle had wrecked at the bottom of an apartment complex parking lot.

Officers arrived on the scene when they observed a wrecked vehicle. The victim was lying outside of the vehicle, unresponsive, suffering an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Currently, there is no one in custody.

This is Birmingham’s 74th murder investigation of 2022 including 6 justifiable death investigations.

FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
