Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, July 24, 2020.

The victim’s has been identified as Demarcus Trelaine Beasley, (49), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 7:20 a.m., South Precinct Officers responded to the 900 block of 47TH Street North on a call of a person shot. Officers arrived and discovered the victim Demarcus Beasley lying unresponsive in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Detectives also learned another victim was transported to UAB Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggest both victims were involved in an altercation with the suspect prior to being shot. The suspect fled the scene in a small sedan. There are no suspect(s) in custody. Additional details will be provided as the come available.
