Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Martez Demon Brown, (37), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 7:00 AM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 900 Block of Meg Drive on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene when they entered a private residence and observed the victim lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was targeted and no other resident in the community is in any danger.
