Arrest Made in Morgan Martin Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Morgan Martin. Morgan Martin was shot and killed on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Railroad Park (1600 1st Avenue South).
The suspect has been identified as:
D’Quan Arnes Wilson, (20), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
BPD officers took the suspect into custody on the scene.
Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.
D’Quan Wilson is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation
(Media Release 158)
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
Morgan Tyree Martin, (28), B/M, of Marietta, Georgia.
At approximately 8:50 PM, BPD officers working at Railroad Park (1600 1st Avenue South), reported a Shots Fired call over the radio.
Officers located an adult male in the park suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported the victim to UAB Hospital. UAB Hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal argument with a separate party. BPD officers detained two adult males for questioning. Patrol officers transported the two males to BPD Headquarters. Homicide detectives will interview the two males.
