Arrest Made in the Brandon DeAndre Wilson Homicide
Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained warrants for the arrest of two suspects in connection to the murder of Brandon DeAndre Wilson. He was shot and killed on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in 500 Block of 41st Street, North.

The suspects have been identified as:

1. Derek Markel Bailey-King III, (23), B/M, of Bessemer, Alabama.

2. Fernandeiz Emillio Rapley Jr. (18), B/M, of Fairfield, Alabama.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After assessment of the information, detectives obtained warrants for Capital Murder on both suspects.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Rapley Jr. at his residence in Midfield, Alabama. Detectives also recovered a “Glock Switch”.

On Monday, July 8, 2024, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team along with the U.S. Marshals Service located and took Bailey-King into custody in the 100 Block of New Avenue in Bessemer, Alabama without incident.

Both suspects will be held in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Brandon Wilson, (31), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At around 1:30 a.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter call in the 500 Block of 41st Street North, officers were updated that a person was down at the location.

Officers arrived and then observed the victim lying at the intersection of 41st Street and 5th Court North suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

UAB Hospital Staff later pronounced the victim deceased.

Details are limited in this investigation.

There is no one in custody.
