Arrest Made in Armed Robbery Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to an armed robbery investigation. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, an adult female was robbed at gunpoint in the 5100 Block of Messer Airport Highway.
The suspect has been identified as:
Maurio Sanders Jr, (23), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, the Birmingham Police Department shared photos of the suspect with our media partners and on BPD’s social media platforms in an attempt to identify him.
That same day, Sanders Jr. turned himself into police custody at BPD Headquarters. He was transported to the Birmingham City Jail and placed under a 48-Hour Felony Extension.
Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Robbery 1st Degree (Gun).
Maurio Sanders Jr. is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail held under No Bond.
