Arrest Made in the Ladarrius Kennedy Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have made an arrest in a recent homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 1017 3rd Avenue West and claimed the life of Ladarrius Kennedy.

The suspect has been identified as:

Justin Hall, (36), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

After the shooting, BPD officers arrested the suspect near Rickwood Field. Officers transported him to BPD Headquarters where BPD Felony Assault detectives interviewed him.

Justin Hall was later booked into the Jefferson County Jail on an Attempted Murder Warrant with a bond of $100,000.

Justin Hall’s charges will be upgraded due to the passing of Ladarrius Kennedy.

The motive for this shooting remains unclear.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 175)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, July 29, 2024.

The victim has been identified as:

Ladarrius Kennedy, (31), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at 1017 3rd Avenue West.

Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

There is no one in custody.
