Media Release 177- Homicide Investigation- 3rd Avenue Southwest
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Ke’mon Latrelle Nord, (20), B/M, of Bessemer, Alabama.
At approximately 8:45 PM, South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 200 Block of 3rd Avenue Southwest on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and entered an apartment complex parking lot when they observed two adult males lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. BFR transported a second male to UAB Hospital with life-threatening- injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests there was large altercation the parking lot when multiple individuals began firing at one another. Shot Spotter registered over twenty rounds fired.
Currently, there is no one in custody.
