Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Treven Williams.
The suspect has been identified as a 17 year-old White Male.
Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Capital Murder.
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, the Birmingham Crime Reduction Team along with the officers from the Tactical Operations Precinct took the juvenile suspect into custody.
The juvenile suspect is currently in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation Update

The Birmingham Police Department reports the victim of a recent homicide has been identified. The incident occurred on Saturday July 17, 2021 in the 7600 block of 2nd Ave North at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The victim has been identified as Treven Williams, b/m, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Additional information gathered by investigators indicate a verbal altercation occurred just before the suspect was shot by an unknown white male. The suspect fled the scene in a small sedan eastbound on 2nd Ave North. No arrest has been made.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 17, 2021 in 7600 block of 2nd Ave North.
The victim will be identified upon notification of next of kin.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., East Precinct Officers responded to the location on a ShotSpotter alert and 911 call of a person down. Officers arrived to discover the victim on the ground in a parking lot of an apartment complex located at 7616 2nd Avenue North. The victim suffered from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggest the victim was shot and ran a short distance before collapsing in the parking lot. Additional details are limited at this time. Detectives have not established a clear motive. There are no suspects in custody.
