Double Homicide Investigation Update

The Birmingham Police Department reports the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has Identified the victim of a homicide that occurred on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

The victims have been identified as:
1. Ellis Lewis Embry, (66), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
2. Timothy Lashawn Erby, (49), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At this time, there is no one in custody. Details are limited in this investigation.

Double Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

The victims will be identified upon notification to their next of kin.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of 42nd Place North on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and made entry inside of the residence where they discovered a male victim lying unresponsive in a hallway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers continued to search the residence where they discovered a second male victim lying
unresponsive in the kitchen suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced both victims deceased.

At this time, there is no one in custody. Details are limited in this investigation.
