Media Release 2- Homicide Investigation- 100 Block of 59th Street N

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, January 2, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Jamarquis Darionte Weaver (27), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At 9:46 PM, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of 59th Street North, on a shot spotter notification of multiple shots fired in the area. Community members also called to advise about shots fired.

Upon arrival officers observed two adult males in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The passenger was transported by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service to UAB Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Currently there are no suspects in custody.

The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
