Public’s Assistance with the Asia Johnson Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Friday, September 30, 2022, that claimed the life of Asia Johnson.
At approximately 7:45 PM, Birmingham 9-1-1 Communications Division received a call regarding an unresponsive female at 71st Street and 1st Avenue North. Upon arrival, East Precinct officers responded to the location and then observed Ms. Johnson suffering from an unknown injury. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and attempted CPR to no avail. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. A homicide detective and evidence technician arrived at the scene of what was believed to be an unclassified death at the time.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on Asia Johnson which revealed she was shot with a pellet gun and died as a result of her injuries.

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, September 30, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Asia Johnson, (25), B/F, of Bessemer, Alabama.
At approximately 7:45 PM, Birmingham 9-1-1 received a call regarding an unresponsive female at 71st Street and 1st Avenue North. Upon arrival, East Precinct officers responded to the location and observed Ms. Johnson suffering from an unknown injury. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and attempted CPR to no avail. She was pronounced deceased on the scene. A homicide detective and evidence technician arrived at the scene of what was believed to be an unclassified death at the time.
The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office contacted the Birmingham Police Department to advise the victim’s death should be classified as a homicide.
Currently, there is no one in custody.
