Media Release 203- Homicide Investigation- Georgia Road

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.

At approximately 10:30 AM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to 7559 Georgia Road on report of a two people shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male victim lying unresponsive inside of a vehicle. Also, officers located a second adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the scene.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported both victims to UAB Hospital. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries at UAB Hospital; the second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests both victims were sitting inside of a vehicle when a second vehicle pulled alongside of theirs and an unknown occupant in the second vehicle began firing shots at the victims.

Currently, there is no one in custody.
