Media Release 204- Homicide Investigation- 28th Street Ensley

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Kenneth Dewayne Maddox Jr., (35), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.  

At approximately 1:30 AM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1900 Block of 28th Street Ensley on report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive inside of a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Princeton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal argument with another person inside of the residence. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim then fled on foot.

Currently, there is no one in custody.
