Public’s Assistance Da’Ontay Jarrett Homicide Investigation

Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide which occurred on Sunday, December 5, 2021. Da’Ontay Jarrett was fatally shot at 926 Aspen Drive.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Aspen Drive (Adona Apartment Complex) on report of a person in the parking lot with a gun. While officers were on the way to the complex, the call was upgraded to a person shot at the location.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive on a staircase. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was walking in the parking lot when an unknown suspect fired shots at the victim. The suspect fled the scene in a silver sedan.

Currently, there is no one in custody.

 Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 296 ‘2021’)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

The victim has been identified as:

Da’Ontay Dawon Jarrett, (30), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Aspen Drive (Adona Apartment Complex) on report of a person in the parking lot with a gun. While officers were on the way to the complex, the call was upgraded to a person shot at the location.
