BPD Homicide Detectives Arrest Two Men in the Homicide Investigation of Snir Lalum

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained arrest warrants for two men in connection to the murder of Snir Lalum.  Snir Lalum was shot and killed on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 115 Walter Davis Drive.

The suspects have been identified as:

  1. Sebastian Ross II, (24), B/M, of Hoover, Alabama.
  2. Jaquies Hoffman, (20), B/M, of Tallassee, Alabama.

On Friday, August 25, 2023, Birmingham Police Homicide detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained warrants for Capital Murder (Robbery) on both suspects.

On Friday, August 25, 2023, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team arrested Sebastian Ross II in Hoover, Alabama.

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, the U.S. Marshal’s Service arrested Jaquies Hoffman in Tallassee, Alabama.

Both suspects are in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 183)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Snir Lalum, (44), Sex: Male / Race: Other, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama

At approximately 5:15 a.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at 115 Walter Davis Drive, which is the business Insta Movers.

Officers arrived at the business and then observed the victim lying unresponsive in a warehouse bay suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Responding patrol officers rendered emergency aid to the victim.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office notified our dispatcher the victim succumbed to his injuries at UAB Hospital.

The preliminary investigation suggests an unknown suspect(s) approached the victim at the business and fired shots at him. Currently, the motive is unknown

There is no one in custody.
