BPD Officers Arrest Man After Multiple Car Break-Ins at Birmingham Business

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained warrants for an arrest in connection to multiple car break-ins at a Birmingham business.

The suspect has been identified as:

Christopher Brauer, (37), W/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

On Thursday, February 1, 2024, at around 9:15 a.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Car Break-In call at Automotive Concepts and Imports, located at 2104 Green Springs Highway.

Officers arrived on the scene when they learned that a suspect had broken into at least three vehicles at the location earlier that morning.

Patrol officers and associates of the business observed surveillance footage of the suspect.

Later, at around 6:20 p.m., South Precinct officers responded to a Fire call near Greensprings Avenue @ Greensprings Highway.

Officers learned a male was setting items on fire in the roadway.

Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the suspect; officers identified him as the suspect who committed the car break-ins earlier that day.

Officers detained the suspect and then transported him to BPD Headquarters for questioning; after detectives questioned the suspect he was booked into the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-Hour Felony Extension.

Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained three warrants for Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle on Christopher Brauer.

Christopher Brauer is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with a $45,000 Bond.

NOTE: the business having surveillance footage of the crime played a MAJOR role in officers being able to make a quick arrest in this case.
