Public’s Assistance with the Ty’nez Durden Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Thursday, October 20, 2022, that claimed the life of Ty’nez Durden.
On Monday, October 17, 2022, at approximately 6:40 PM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 7700 Block of Sunrise Lane on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was standing in the parking lot when an unknown vehicle arrived in the area and an unknown suspect(s) began firing shots at the victim.
Currently, there is no one in custody.

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, October 17, 2022.
The victim has been identified as:
Ty’nez Lloyd Durden, (17), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 6:40 PM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 7700 Block of Sunrise Lane on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
