The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a robbery investigation. The incident occurred on Monday, October 26, 2020.
Just before 3:00 p.m., the suspect entered AlaTrust Credit Union located at 1694 Montclair Road. The suspect presented the teller with a note and demanded money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money prior to fleeing the location. The suspect was confronted in the parking lot by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy. The deputy was working in an off duty capacity at the credit union. Shots were fired by the deputy during this confrontation. The suspect was able to flee the scene.
The suspect was apprehended by the Birmingham Police Department with the assistance of Irondale Police Department in the city limits of Irondale. There were no injuries to the suspect or law enforcement officers.
