Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Jamal Abdulahe, (44), W/M, of Gardendale, Alabama.

At approximately 3:25 a.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at the Marathon gas station located at 4567 Pinson Valley Parkway.

Officers arrived on the scene when they were met by Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies who informed them a male had been shot at the Marathon.

The victim drove off in his vehicle before the vehicle wrecked off the roadway.

Deputies and officers observed the wrecked vehicle; they observed the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies and officers also observed an adult female who was injured.

Center Point Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Center Point Fire and Rescue personnel transported the adult female to a local area hospital. Currently, we believe the adult female was not struck by gunfire; however, she suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the wreck.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were inside their vehicle when a separate vehicle pulled alongside them, and an unknown suspect(s) fired shots into the victim’s vehicle.

There is no one in custody.
