Arrest Made in Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Rodger Davis. Mr. Davis was shot and killed on Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the 600 Block of 13th Street Ensley.

The suspect has been identified as:

Timothy Williams, (55), B/M, of Birmingham Alabama.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 600 Block of 13th Street Ensley.

Officers arrived on the scene when they entered the residence and then observed the victim lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal argument with an adult male; the adult male shot the victim and then fled the scene.

Hours after the incident, BPD officers detained the adult male in the 700 Block of 19th Street South. Officers transported the adult male to BPD Headquarters where Homicide detectives interviewed him.

He was then booked into the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-Hour Felony Extension.

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.

Timothy Williams is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Rodger Davis, (65), B/M, of Fairfield, Alabama.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at a residence in the 600 Block of 13th Street Ensley.

Officers arrived on the scene when they entered the residence and then observed the victim lying unresponsive suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
