Public’s Assistance with the Mondrelle Kellogg Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, that claimed the life of Mondrelle Kellogg.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to the 100 block of Center Street South on a call of a person shot. Officers were also alerted to several rounds detected by ShotSpotter. Officers arrived on the scene and then found the victim, Kellogg, unresponsive on the ground in front of his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. A female victim was also on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
Kellogg was pronounced deceased on the scene. The female victim was transported to UAB where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates the victim drove to the location, exited his car, and exchanged words with an unknown person. As the victim walked back to his car he was shot by another unknown suspect. The suspect fled the scene on foot prior to the officer’s arrival. There are no suspect(s) in custody.

Birmingham Police Department detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 27, 2020.
The victim has been identified as:
Mondrelle Kellogg, (25), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to the 100 block of Center Street South on a call of a person shot.
