Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 11:51 AM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a person shot call in the 9200 Block of Parkway East.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male victim lying unresponsive on the third-floor balcony of the Parkway Inn Motel, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown male; the male shot the victim and left the scene.
There is no one in custody.
