Missing Person Investigation Update
At approximately 3:15 p.m., the Birmingham Police Department’s 911 Communications Division was notified of a body found inside a vacant property located at 4409 13th Ave North. Officers from South Precinct arrived and observed human remains inside the home.
The investigation indicates the vacant home was being cleaned out when the body was discovered. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the remains are those of missing person Irene Campbell.

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a missing person investigation. The Birmingham Police Department request assistance from the public on locating the subject in the attached photo.
The missing person has been identified as: Irene Campbell, (81), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama
Irene Campbell was last seen on June 15, 2020 at 1208 43rd Street North. Ms. Campbell was wearing denim capri pants and a black shirt with multicolor design. Ms. Campbell’s family stated she suffers from dementia.
