Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 16, 2021.

The victim has been identified as:
Christopher Diltz, (33), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., South Precinct officers along with Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFRS) personnel were dispatched to 4512 11th Avenue North on report of a house fire. BFRS extinguished the flames and discovered the victim deceased inside of the residence.

The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the victim and it was discovered the victim suffered several stab wounds which the Medical Examiner’s Office believes caused his death.

The details surrounded this homicide and fire are limited.
