 Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

The victim will be identified upon notification of next of kin.

Shortly before 6 p.m., West Precinct officers responded to 1641 Roberts Street on report of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and observed the victim lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper extremities. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported the victim transported to UAB Hospital where the victim was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests an unknown suspect(s) began firing shots from a vehicle striking the victim. Details are limited in this investigation. This is Birmingham’s 91st homicide investigation of 2020 with 13 justifiable death investigations and 1 non-criminal homicide (accidental shooting). The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
