 Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

The victim’s identity will be released pending notification to the next of kin.

At approximately 7:35 a.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of 8th Avenue West on report of a female lying unresponsive in a front yard. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim suffered a gunshot wound. Detectives believe the victim was shot at a location nearby and collapsed in the front yard.

Currently, there is no one in custody.
