Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2023.
The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.
At approximately 2:55 a.m., West Precinct officers were responding to a ShotSpotter notification of 9 rounds fired. While en route, the call was updated to a male lying in the roadway in the 2200 Block of 18th Street Ensley.
Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying unresponsive in the roadway at the intersection of 18th Street and Avenue W, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The details are limited in this investigation.
There is no one in custody.
