Public Assistance in the Kiara Holcombe Homicide Investigation
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information in the Kiara Holcombe homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, July 8, 2022.
At approximately 6:07 pm, South Precinct officers were dispatched to Center Street and 4th Avenue Southwest on report of a person shot. Upon arrival officers observed Kiara Holcombe suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was leaving a residence and a masked gunman approached her vehicle and fired multiple rounds fatally wounding the victim. Detectives believe the victim was targeted.
Currently, there is no one in custody.

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, July 8, 2022.
The victim has been identified as Kiara Holcombe, (32), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Just after 6:00 p.m., officers from the South Precinct responded to the corner of Center Street and 4th Avenue South on a call of a person shot. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle that came to rest after striking a fence. Officers discovered the victim Kiara Holcomb unresponsive in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was leaving a residence and a masked gunman approached her vehicle and fired multiple rounds fatally wounding the victim. Detectives believe the victim was targeted. The suspect is still at large.
