Public’s Assistance with Homicide Investigation

Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2022, which claimed the life of 30-year-old Jonathan Edmond.

At approximately 11:20 AM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 700 block of New Hill Avenue on report of a person down. Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying unresponsive near the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

 Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Jonathan Edmond, (30), B/M, of Bessemer, Alabama.

At approximately 11:20 AM, West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 700 block of New Hill Avenue on report of a person down. Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim lying unresponsive near the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Details are limited in this investigation. At this time, there is no one in custody.
