Arrest Made in the Kevin Davis Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Kevin Davis who shot and killed on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the 300 Block of Lexington Street.

The suspect has been identified as:

Braxton Lewis, (22), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, Birmingham Police Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Murder.

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, BPD’s Crime Reduction Team, Narcotics Unit, and the FBI arrested Braxton Lewis in the 3700 Block of 9th Avenue Wylam.

Braxton Lewis is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

NOTE: Kevin Davis is Braxton Lewis’ uncle.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 225)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:

Kevin J. Davis, (41), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 6:00 AM West Precinct officers were dispatched to a call of a person down in the 300 Block of Lexington Street.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed an adult male lying on the side of the roadway unresponsive.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s office arrived on the scene and took care and custody of the victim.

The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office has concluded that the victim’s cause of death was a gunshot wound.

The details are limited in this investigation.

There is no one in custody.
