Media Release 258 – Homicide – 400 Block 4th Street

Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

The victim will be identified upon notification to the next of kin.

Just before 10:00 am Birmingham 9-1-1 received a call that an adult male had been shot in the 400 block of 4th Street.

Upon arrival West Precinct officers observed an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Currently there are no suspects in custody.

 These are Birmingham’s 127th murder investigation of 2022 with 10 justifiable death investigations. The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations in the total homicide investigations counts.
