Update: Fatal Hit & Run Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports investigators have established new developments in a hit-and-run investigation that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. The Birmingham Police Department is seeking help from the public to identify the driver of the white vehicle seen in the video.

The preliminary investigation suggests the white vehicle appears to be a Nissan Cube.

The white vehicle struck the silver sedan, causing the sedan to collide with the tractor trailer. The tractor trailer then struck the concrete median and a Jeep Cherokee. Both vehicles subsequently fell over the wall onto the 20/59 southbound interstate below.

Fatal Hit & Run Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports investigators are conducting a hit and run investigation that resulted in a fatality. The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. The Birmingham Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the white vehicle involved in the accident that left the scene. At approximately 5:02 p.m., BPD responded to a traffic collision at I-59 North / I- 59 South. The investigation indicated the accident was caused by a white vehicle that struck a small silver sedan. The silver sedan was catapulted into an 18 wheeler causing the 18 wheeler to strike a black SUV. The driver of the 18 wheeler was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the white vehicle left the scene of the accident.
