Arrest Made in Woodlawn Armed Robbery Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to a robbery investigation in the Woodlawn Community.

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at around 8:25 a.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 200 Block of 59th Street South on report of a Robbery.

Officers arrived on the scene and then spoke with an adult female. Officers learned a male robbed her at gunpoint while she was riding her bicycle; the suspect stole her bicycle and then fled the scene. The victim was not injured.

BPD Crime Analysts sent out a department wide Be on the Lookout (BOLO) bulletin with the suspect’s description and a description of the victim’s bicycle.

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at around 11:45 a.m., a BPD Sergeant, who was working an off-duty job, observed a person riding the victim’s bicycle in the Woodlawn area; he requested assistance from East Precinct patrol officers.

East Precinct officers observed the suspect in the 5900 Block of 2nd Avenue North. Officers took the suspect into custody and then transported him to be interviewed by BPD Robbery detectives at BPD Headquarters.

At the conclusion of the interview, the suspect was booked into the Birmingham City Jail under a 48-Hour Felony Extension.

Birmingham Police Robbery Detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Robbery 1st Degree (Firearm) on the following suspect.

The suspect has been identified as:

Vincent Dixie, (35), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Vincent Dixie is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.
