Shots Fired at Birmingham Police Officers
The Birmingham Police Department reports shots were fired at Birmingham Police officers during a vehicle pursuit. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
On Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at around 10:05 PM, West Precinct officers were in pursuit of a vehicle, in the 2000 Block of Avenue I, that was taken in an armed carjacking the previous day. During the pursuit, a suspect fired multiple shots at our officers from the stolen vehicle. A Birmingham Police patrol vehicle was struck by gunfire on the front windshield and front right bumper.
The pursuit ended in the 2700 Block of Court O when multiple suspects bailed from the vehicle. Currently, there are no suspects in custody. Officers recovered the stolen vehicle as well as the stolen guns.
No officers were injured; no officers fired shots.
