Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The deceased was discovered on Monday, October 14, 2019 at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The identity of the deceased will be released upon confirmation and notification of immediate family.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of an accident in the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 12th Street West. Upon arrival, responding officers observed an adult male subject in the driver’s seat of a van suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived along with the Jefferson County Coroner and pronounced the subject deceased on the scene.
There are no suspect(s) in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
