Robbery Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports that detectives are conducting a robbery investigation. Investigators request assistance from the public in identifying the suspect in the attached robbery video.
At approximately 10:23 p.m. on Friday October 18, 2019, the suspect entered the Exxon gas station located at 4101 1st Avenue North. Upon entering, the suspect walked throughout the store as if he were shopping. The suspect began to shoplift clothing items from the store and attempted to leave. As the suspect attempted to exit, he was confronted by the store clerk. Both the suspect and clerk became involved in a physical altercation before the suspect threw the clerk to the floor. The suspect managed to flee the scene in a silver Nissan Sentra that was occupied by a black female. The store clerk did sustain an injury to the knee and was taken to St. Vincent’s for further evaluation.
If there is anyone with information on the identity of the suspect, we ask that they contact BPD Robbery Detectives at 205-254-1753 or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777. If the tip to Crime Stoppers leads to an arrest, Crime Stoppers will provide a cash reward.
