Public’s Assistance with the Shundra Vines Homicide Investigation

Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Friday, December 22, 2022, that claimed the life of Shundra Vines.

At 12:44 AM a shot spotter notification alerted multiple shots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival, West Precinct officers observed a Red Pontiac Vibe at the edge of a driveway; officers then observed Shundra Vines lying unresponsive inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Currently, there are no suspects in custody.

Homicide Investigation

(Media Release 263-2022)

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a shooting investigation. The incident occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2022.

The victim has been identified as:

Shundra Denise McCray Vines, (43), B/F, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At 12:44 AM a shot spotter notification alerted multiple shots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival West Precinct officers observed a running vehicle at the edge of a driveway. Inside the victim was seated in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Currently there are no suspects in custody.
