Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, December 17, 2020.

The victim has been identified as Kshune Dewayne Brown, (26), b/m, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At approximately 10:47 a.m. officers from West Precinct responded to 4448 Carver Avenue on a call of a person shot. Officers arrived and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after, BPD was notified the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. There is limited information available in this investigation. There are no suspects in custody, nor have detectives established a motive.

This is Birmingham’s 104th homicide investigation of 2020 with 15 justifiable death investigations and 1 non-criminal homicide (accidental shooting). The Birmingham Police Department adheres to FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines set for all law enforcement agencies across the United States. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting guidelines do not require law enforcement agencies to include justifiable death investigations into the total homicide investigations counts.
