Homicide Investigation Update 2
The Birmingham Police Department reports that the homicide and assault investigations are still ongoing. The incident occurred on Monday, December 2, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Investigators request that anyone with additional information in this case contact detectives or remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers.
The deceased has been identified as:
James Looney, B/M, 16, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at 6th Street and St. Charles Avenue SW. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced diseased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue. Officers also encountered a female victim (juvenile) struck by gunfire. She was transported to Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries. The female victim remains in the hospital in serious condition.
There are no suspect(s) in custody, but investigators have received information that a black male suspect was involved.
